THE RIDES

120KM AT A GLANCE

This is the real deal – with close to 120km of gruelling climbs, twisting turns, and welcoming townships, this course is part of what is being called ‘the toughest stage in a milestone year’ at the 2025 Santos Tour Down Under. Starting in Norwood and climbing up Norton Summit straight out of the gate, you’ll pass through Macclesfield, Ballhannah, Hahndorf, Lenswood and Ashton before finishing in Uraidla.

CLIMBS

With two showstopper climbs and punchy up and downs throughout, this is a test of grit that will earn bragging rights.  It’s straight uphill from the start for the first 15km up the classic locals’ hit out Norton Summit. Then a punishing climb with less than 10km to go up Knott’s Hill Road to Ashton. 

AID STATIONS

There will be six aid stations spread out on course to keep you fuelled.
 
  • Feed Station #1 (11km) – Norton Summit Road
  • Feed Station #2 (30km) – Aldgate
  • Feed Station #3 (43km) – Echunga
  • Feed Station #4 (64km) – Flaxley
  • Feed Station #5 (83km) – Hahndorf
  • Feed Station #6 (98km) – Lenswood

FINISH

Uraidla has seen some Epic finishes over the years.  You’ll finish under the Santos Tour Down Under finish line on Greenhill Road and will be in place to witness many more incredible finishes and stories throughout the day.

85KM AT A GLANCE

20KM AT A GLANCE

Feel the burn with the classic climb from Norwood to Uraidla.  Take in the atmosphere of the urban start on The Parade, and head straight up Norton Summit Road through Ashton to the finish in Uraidla.

CLIMBS

It’s straight uphill from the start for the first 15km up the classic locals’ hit out Norton Summit. Then a punishing climb with less than 10km to go up Knott’s Hill Road to Ashton.   The climb features an average gradient of 4.3% and up to a max of 20%.

AID STATIONS

There will one aid station on the way up Norton Summit Road, 11km from the start.

FINISH

Uraidla has seen some Epic finishes over the years.  You’ll finish on Swamp Street and head right onto the Oval where you will be in place to witness many more incredible finishes and stories throughout the day.

There is no member organisation required. You will need to purchase additional insurance if you are not an AusCycling member.

Official entries close on Sunday 19 January at 11.59pm. 

Yes. A One Day AusCycling Membership is automatically added to your entry, if you do not have an annual AusCycling membership licence. 

120km: $6.60

85km: $5.50

20km: $5.50

Yes. All distances have a minimum age for participation. 

120km* – Minimum age 17 years. 

85km* – Minimum age 16 years.

20km* – Minimum age 14 years.

Age is calculated as of the event day.

If the event is abandoned, as per the terms and conditions, the amount paid will be refunded less the transaction fee and $25 for the jersey (which you will keep).  Riders may select to have the jersey posted at an additional fee if the event is abandoned.

EVENT DAY INFORMATION

Riders will start from 6.00am. 

Absolutely! All distances will have a mass start, meaning you can begin where you feel comfortable. 

Yes, you must be satisfied you will meet the minimum average speed criteria needed to complete your course distance within our permitted times. There will be multiple curfew points across the course to ensure that your ride is supported and the event complies with issued permits.
120km* – to be calculated on final course approval. Estimated at 18km/hr.
85km* – to be calculated on final course approval. Estimated at 18km/hr .
20km* – to be calculated on final course approval. Estimated at 12km/hr .

For safety reasons, we prefer everyone ride in their Official Event Jersey. 

YES. Full stop.

You can use road bikes, mountain bikes, city bikes, hybrid bikes, and cross bikes.  E-bikes are permitted.*
 
Tandem bikes are permitted, and we ask you to please note your machinery on your entry. 
 
As this is a shared road event where keeping your eyes up is imperative, Time Trial Bikes and bikes with tri or aero bars are not permitted.  
 
We do not recommend using a recumbent bike or handcycle due to the difficulty of the course.  If you are interested, please call our office.
 
*Given our curfews for this event, your choice of machinery contingent on being able to maintain the average speed of each distance. 

You are not permitted to race with any music devices including mobile phones, MP3 players, earphones etc, this is a very serious safety risk to you and the participants around you.

All packs will be available for collection in event week. Times to be confirmed.

You can collect for a friend as long as you have their confirmation message. 

Each participant receives a timing chip. 

Times are calculated live and will be shared on the event website

The event starts at The Parade at George Street in Norwood, and finishes at Greenhill Road, Uraidla.

A bag check in will be available at the start precinct to deliver your belongings to the finish line.
